Kingdom (EP)

Kingdom is an EP by the Polish death metal band Vader. It was released on August 21, 1998 in Japan by Avalon Marquee, and in United States, Europe, and Poland on November 10, 1998 via Pavement Music, Metal Mind, and System Shock/Impact Records.

Kingdom was recorded, and mixed in July, August, and December 1997, and February 1998 at Selani Studio in Olsztyn, and 2.47 Studio in Warsaw. Enhanced track contains PC CD-ROM Data track with video for "Incarnation" in Video For Windows format, encoded using four different quality settings. Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek talked about remixes on the album, saying:

Kingdom is a the third live album from Covenant Worship. Integrity Music released the album on July 1, 2014. They worked with Israel Houghton, in the production of this album.

Critical reception

Awarding the album three and a half stars at AllMusic, Matt Collar writes, "Kingdom, showcases the group's exuberant praise & worship sound." Mark Ryan, rating the album three stars for New Release Today, says, "The other highlight of the album is that it was recorded live, just as all worship albums should be." Giving the album three and a half stars by New Release Today, Marcus Hathcock states, "Kingdom does a good job of capturing a live church atmosphere." Jeremy Armstrong, indicating in a five star review from Worship Leader, describes, "Kingdom is powerful, infectious, and musically incredible." Specifying in a three and a half star review for 365 Days of Inspiring Media, Joshua Andre replies, "Though this album can be improve[d] upon...this is a solid effort." Jono Davies, signaling in a four star review at Louder Than the Music, responds, "this album has a great mix of musical styles, and they all work wonderfully together." Criticizing the release in a two and a half star review from Christian Music Review, April Covington cautions, "While this album is great for music leaders in church, I don’t believe that the average listener will be singing along while driving in their cars."

Electronic music

Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production, an electronic musician being a musician who composes and/or performs such music. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology. Examples of electromechanical sound producing devices include the telharmonium, Hammond organ, and the electric guitar. Purely electronic sound production can be achieved using devices such as the theremin, sound synthesizer, and computer.

The first electronic devices for performing music were developed at the end of the 19th century, and shortly afterward Italian Futurists explored sounds that had previously not been considered musical. During the 1920s and 1930s, electronic instruments were introduced and the first compositions for electronic instruments were composed. By the 1940s, magnetic audio tape allowed musicians to tape sounds and then modify them by changing the tape speed or direction, leading to the development of electroacoustic tape music in the 1940s, in Egypt and France. Musique concrète, created in Paris in 1948, was based on editing together recorded fragments of natural and industrial sounds. Music produced solely from electronic generators was first produced in Germany in 1953. Electronic music was also created in Japan and the United States beginning in the 1950s. An important new development was the advent of computers for the purpose of composing music. Algorithmic composition was first demonstrated in Australia in 1951.

Electronic (band)

Electronic were an English alternative dance supergroup formed by New Order singer and guitarist Bernard Sumner and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. They co-wrote the majority of their output between 1989 and 1998, collaborating with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, of Pet Shop Boys, on three tracks in their early years, and former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos on nine songs in 1995.

History

The two first met in 1984 when the Smiths guitarist contributed to a Quando Quango track that Sumner was producing. Later in 1988, Sumner was frustrated because his New Order bandmates were not receptive to his desire to add synth programming to their music. He decided to produce a solo album but found that he did not enjoy working alone, so he called Marr for help.

Inspired by contemporary dance music like Italo house and acts such as Technotronic, their initial concept was to release white label records on Factory and remain an anonymous entity, in contrast to their considerable reputations with The Smiths and New Order. The track "Lucky Bag" and the name Electronic itself are two of the vestiges of this initial approach. In 1989, Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant suggested a collaboration when he heard of the budding partnership through sleeve designer Mark Farrow .
